Give your coworkers the best working conditions they could hope for!
Our first advice is rather one of common sense: you should accommodate your members with optimal working conditions. It goes without saying that good working conditions are essential to brighten your coworkers’ mood and working potential. Clearly a small office, poor internet connection and noise disturbance will tire your coworkers and will eventually discourage them.
The cleanliness of the coworking space is also extremely important. The working space has to make people want to come back, they should feel at home! So, make sure your premises are neat and tidy!
Although a coworking centre is not a fun club, it is not a standard office that one rents anonymously. Coworking was meant to create interaction between individuals. The general atmosphere must remain professional, but it should also enable a group dynamic within the community. Members should want to dialogue and assist others and share their knowledge.
A happy co-worker is a great ambassador!
Keep in mind a fulfilled coworker will recommend your coworking centre to his acquaintances. Your coworkers are your best ambassadors!
Activities are essential to promote social cohesion. There should be a wide range of them to attract as many coworkers as possible: professional events, afterworks, etc. Think about the different types of activities that will stimulate your coworkers both professionally (eg: coaching sessions, specific interventions or workshops) and personally (social inclusion, lunches, etc.).
Being part of the community should bring support, not hold back.
The community you will have successfully shaped has to be an asset for your members. All of them should feel they are a part of it. Encourage dialogue within the working space and introduce the new comers to the more established members!
Create a network for your coworkers
Make sure everyone one in the coworking space has been introduced to the others. Events, activities and social networks are essential tools to boost contact between individuals. Intern chatting systems or forums are handy to help coworkers keep in touch, as many of them will have unique work rhythm and they will not necessarily meet across the hall.
